The policies seek to tackle behavior that promotes severe injuries and fatalities, including road injuries and death, which are caused by careless driving and reckless behavior.
The First New Rule
The new rules that are being created are intended to tackle reckless behavior and crimes of using a mobile phone while driving a car, which is punishable by a fine of 1,223 dollars. Since October 2023, being caught using a mobile phone while driving a motor vehicle are now suppose to follow the new set rules dubbed some of the driving rules in the country.
The Second Offence
The second violation associated with the same fine is now termed as not moving for emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police, and fire engines while they perform their duties by driving with lights and sirens on. The rules state that should you deliberately neglect to move for such vehicles, you are likely to be fined. They said minor delays could cost lives so the reasoning for the tougher measures needing to be put in place.
National Road Safety Crackdown
It is no different in Australia, as the fines serve as cada. Transport officials have studied the driver behavior data and concluded that the primary offenses—driving while distracted and obstructing emergency responders—can potentially cause critical incidents.
